I've a skeptical type when it comes to many things, but I've been using binaural beats for several months in order to help with sleep or relaxation. Recently, though, in the past two weeks or so, I've been experiencing odd sensations that I wanted to comment on. I've never felt such things before. Some of this has been triggered with isochronic tones:
After starting the music and relaxing/settling in, the first thing I notice is fluttering in my eyelids. I then try to focus on the sounds and calm my mind.
Sometimes my mind might drift and I lose awareness of the sound. I'm daydreaming about something. Suddenly though, my attention is snapped back to the sound, and then I usually find myself in a state where I'm noticing those strange physical sensations. Here are some examples:
1- I notice an odd pulsing in my forehead, between my eyes. Usually this is synchronized with an isochronic tone (this might be sympathetic to the pulsing eyelids.)
2- Same thing with my hands, legs, and sometimes groin area. I definitely feel a very slight "jitter" in my body, again, it's usually synchronized with a pulsing tone.
3- Oddly, sometimes I feel my right hand "oscillate." It's a different sensation as the nervous jitter mentioned in #2. This is more of a feeling of a slow rotation in the hand, almost the same motion as if drawing a letter "O" on paper.
The first few times I experienced such things it was frightening. I was worried about having a seizure or some other harmful event. So far, though, these symptoms seem to be benign.
When these things happen, once the audio stops (after about 30-40 mins.,) I am in an extremely relaxed/peaceful state of mind. I'm an athlete, and this feeling is most like a "runner's high," except without the high. It's just a very energized, relaxed, aware type of feeling.
I hope I'm not sounding like a quack, but I'm writing because I'm curious about understanding this. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
